Pain Treatments

Detail about our Treatment

İstanbul Neurosurgery and Pain Center treats neck-waist and back pains resulted from spinal problems through the use of non-surgical methods. With our experience, we can manage to dramatically treat the pains of suitable patients with minumum side effects through spinal injections made under fluoroscopy. During this operation, X-Ray use can ensure that suitable drug mix will be applied to the determined degree properly and without delay.

Said injections are applied in our center according to the standards of one of the largest pain centers of America: Darthmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Types of Injections

  • ESE Epidural Steroid Injection
  • Epidural injections help relieve the inflamation in nerve.
  • This type of injection is often used in treatment of hernia, sciatica, stricture and radiculopathy.
  • Facet injections are carried out through the joints between the vertebral bones. These facets often interact as a result of arthritis and rupture.
  • Nerve blocks are generally used to deactivate a peripherical nerve which is the cause of a pain as a result of stricture, hernia, facet cysts.

How is a treatment plan created for my pain?

To effectively treat pain, your participation is required. Our pain management team can perform evaluations and review your medical history to help diagnose the cause, but no one knows your pain as you do. Tell your physician about when you experience pains, including activities that seem to make it worse. Consider keeping a log tracking pains to show your doctor to assist them in prescribing treatment.

Pain management is an interdisciplinary practice, and your treatment could involve a combination of physical therapy, injections, medication, and interventional procedures.

I do not want to become addicted to pain medication, do I have to take it?

Not all treatments require pain medication, but for those that do, it is an essential part of improving your condition. Addiction to pain medication is rarely the result of pain management treatment. Doctors keep this concern in mind when creating a treatment plan, and prescribe medication at a frequency specifically designed to avoid developing an addiction.

Remember that medication will not be the only aspect of your treatment. It is the combination of your treatments that alleviate pain, not medication alone. Your body is aware of this, and it is highly unlikely that it will develop a chemical dependence on a narcotic if it is taken as prescribed.

I was told my pain management requires injections. Will it be painful?

Our treatments are designed to be minimally invasive. We work closely with patients to learn their goals and what they’re comfortable with. Our team takes measures to ensure patients do not experience excessive discomfort during injection. A sedative may be administered to help you relax.
